Tonight was “Music of Our Lives.”  The fundraising event for Park Avenue Youth and Family Services CDF Freedom Schools Program.  The music, the crowd, the food, the venue were all fantastic and above all else, people gathered to support a really phenomenal program for kids.

Tickets are $50 at the door and support the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School® at Park Avenue Youth and Family Services.  There will be an hors d’oeuvres and cocktail hour from 6:00 to 7:00 with silent auction and the concert will start at 7:00

Chris Stewart is the current Executive Director of the Minnesota African American Leadership Forum. He will speak about his experiences as a parent, Minneapolis school board member, and education reform activist working to combat segregation and inequality in Minnesota. Refreshments will be provided!

The Village Tutors staff from Park Avenue Youth and Family Services will be there.  If you’re in town and interested in Education Reform, come check it out.

Richard is participating as a celebrity chef at a fundraiser in November for Park Avenue Youth and Family Services.

The mission of Park Avenue Youth & Family Services is to empower the residents of the Central neighborhood of South Minneapolis to eliminate dis-parities in health & quality of life stemming from racism & poverty. 

This fundraiser is going to support the educational programs of Park Avenue Youth and Family Services (Incl. Village Tutors, Homework Help, and Tronix Team)

75% of 8th graders at our local schools cannot pass the basic reading standards test, 99% cannot pass the MCI III math standards test. PAYFS wants to be part of the solution with our tutoring and hands-on science education programs.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.  You will be able to taste dishes from several community member “chefs.”
