Christmas Gift Ideas – Clean Water for Elirose

Ariah is a friend of Richard.  We sat near him and his kids at a fundraising dinner last year, he’s just a really cool guy.

Last year, Ariah wrote this book because he was looking for books that he could read with his own children about issues that are important to him.

This book follows friends in the developed world who have lots of beverage options and learn that in other countries, kids like Elirose have to travel long and far to get water and it’s often not safe.  The kids find different ways to raise money for wells, and Elirose’s community gets a new well.

The book is well written, the kids in the story are reflective of American diversity and the book provides teaching opportunities about poverty, activism, development, but also reading, writing, math and science.

The proceeds from this book go to Charity: Water a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.
